Farewell to Forever Alone

April 27th, 2011 by Nick Notas 1 Comments

Today, I have to say goodbye to an old friend, the forever alone internet meme. I love web humor as much as anyone else, but this is one trend I can no longer stand behind.

When the joke of being forever alone began, I found it entertaining. It was a way to describe the frustrations of guys all over the web and have a good laugh about it. But now I see men openly stating their loneliness on every social site out there and I don’t agree.

I’m a nerd and proud of it. Always have been and always will be — it’s in my blood. I love gadgets, games, and goblins…yeah I’ve played some Dungeons & Dragons in my day. At the same time, I’m extremely social and love meeting new people. I only got that way by pushing my boundaries, stepping out of my comfort zone, and taking chances.

You can still be yourself and be socially confident with women, they aren’t mutually exclusive. Most guys don’t realize that getting to that point is just a matter of effort. And the ones who do, are often afraid of making a fool of themselves or getting rejected. Nothing in this world comes easy but sometimes you have to man up and bite the bullet.

Start taking action. Take baby steps if you have to, but make a conscious decision to practice your social abilities with the opposite sex. Try OKCupid and talk to women online. Make small talk with the people you encounter throughout the day. Join some meetup.com groups and surround yourself with new faces. The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.

If you honestly believe that you’re forever alone, you will be. Putting yourself down and assuming you can never date a great woman hurts you more than you know. You deserve to find someone you want to be with, so start acting like it. Changing your fate begins with changing your attitude.

Farewell forever alone, I wish you the best of luck but I’ve moved on.

Hey Nick, I would like to say good by to the forever alone guy but I find myself in situations to where it’s best for me to be alone. I guess it’s me but it seems that need to put a whole lot of effort into everything I do whether I’m trying to stay in a relationship or to just ask a girl out, it gets tiresome. I try not keep think about being in a relationship but I end up finding myself thinking to deep about it. But I will still continue to better myself as a person and keep reading articles that you post so I can push myself to be a better person and MAYBE in the future I might find myself in a relationship with woman that loves me for who and am and I don’t have to go through any games to get her.
